BouNou is led by Paul Schmidt, who has over 28 years of experience in the construction and professional consultancy industry.
Committed to finding ways to address challenges in the construction industry and to improve the quality in our built environment, he developed and patented: nuweep, a permanent weephole former, designed to assist the ailing skills in the masonry trade by ensuring consistent, functional and neat weepholes in brick wall construction.
His early career experiences include working at SWS Architects, Welman Architects in the US, and SHW Architects, before joining Studio D’Arc Architects in 2000 as a director and shareholder. One of Paul’s proudest career accomplishments is helping build Studio D’Arc Architects, a firm originally established by his late father in 1972, into a brand synonymous with consistent excellence.
In 2015, Paul co-founded Nuclei Unlimited (NUUN design), a company specialising in the design and manufacture of buildings. Nuclei draws inspiration from the automotive industry, employing production processes that maximize economies of scale, precision, and low maintenance. The company’s goal is to rethink building finance and ownership, exploring innovative ways to decouple land from building investment.
